Barra has some of the finest beaches in Salvador and is ideally positioned for visiting the  Pelourinho (historic centre). There are lots of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. Public transport is very good with buses to every part of the city and taxis on every corner.

Barra is one of the two main Carnaval routes in the city and the pousada is just around the corner from the Farol da Barra (lighthouse) which is the centre of the Carnaval activities. Salvador's New Year celebrations (a spectacular firework display and outdoor concert) also take place at Farol da Barra so we are also ideally located for this unforgettable event.
